In an article in the Atlantic, James Fallows ponders if America is in decline and if so, is there anything we can do about it. One of the more revealing commentaries on America’s prospects comes from an American businessman living in China:
“We scream about our problems but as long as we have the immigrants, and the universities, we’ll be fine.”
- James McGregor, an American businessman living in China
Thanks for that article. I love articles like that. History is very important to understand, especially in economic terms. For instance, the crisis and panic of 1837 & 1839 and the fall of Rome compared to today.
As far as keeping America great, we need to reset our focus on the issues that made America great in the first place — small business, entrepreneurialism, great education, independent thinking and accountability. Any move in those directions would surely keep us from “going to hell”.
