I am not surprised, either at the failure of most HTA bodies to recommend checking for proportional hazards nor at the failure of others to follow the recommendations to do so. Most major journals follow the CONSORT guidelines that recommend checking for proportional hazards, yet most authors fail to do so. Journal editors rarely pick up the lapse, even when they have statisticians on their staff. There is too little understanding of the details of statistical analysis in medical research. Our watchdogs need to do a better job! Thanks for pointing out this valuable analysis.
