For the Health Affairs Infusion piece, it is shortsighted. Much of the greater costs of hospital oupatient department infusion centers is also due to increased safety measures and increased regulation. Physician offices are the Wild West and often, do not adhere to worker/patient protection policies or safety checks seen elsewhere. The person mixing your infusion may have no formal training in admixture and key concepts.
